Ally McCoist: Rangers Legend and Scottish Football Icon
Early Life and Career
Alistair Murdoch McCoist MBE (born 24 September 1962) is best known by his nickname Ally. McCoist was born in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. He began his football career with local club St. Johnstone in 1978.
Golden Boot Winner
McCoist established himself as a prolific goalscorer during his time at Rangers, where he spent 15 years as a player. He won the European Golden Boot twice, in the 1992-93 and 1994-95 seasons.
Rangers Icon
McCoist became Rangers' all-time top goalscorer with 355 goals. He helped the club win numerous trophies, including 10 Scottish Premier League titles and nine Scottish Cups.
International Career
McCoist also represented Scotland at the international level, earning 61 caps and scoring 19 goals. He was part of the Scotland squad that reached the 1990 FIFA World Cup and the 1992 UEFA European Championship.
Post-Playing Career
After retiring from playing, McCoist worked as a manager and TV pundit. He managed Rangers from 2011 to 2014, winning the Scottish League Cup in 2011.
