City Unveils Plans for Sustainable and Accessible Event

Upcoming Games to Utilize Existing and Temporary Venues

Los Angeles, California - The 2028 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, have been officially awarded to Los Angeles, California. The city will host the event for the third time, following the 1932 and 1984 Games. The Games will take place from July 14-30, 2028.

The city's vision for the Games is to create a sustainable and accessible event that leaves a lasting legacy for Los Angeles. The Games concept will utilize 100 percent existing and temporary venues, with plans to reuse or return all temporary materials after the event. This approach aims to minimize the environmental impact and ensure that the Games are inclusive and welcoming to all.

Since the 1984 Games, several new state-of-the-art stadiums and arenas have been built in Los Angeles. These facilities, along with existing venues such as the Rose Bowl and Pauley Pavilion, will be used to host the Olympic events. Additionally, the city has identified several temporary venues that will be constructed for the Games.
