SpaceX's Polaris Dawn Mission: A Gateway to Space Exploration

Launch Details and Crew

Scheduled for launch no earlier than summer 2024, SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket will launch the Polaris Dawn mission from Florida. The Dragon spacecraft will carry a crew of four on a five-day orbital journey.

The Polaris Dawn crew includes:Jared Isaacman (mission commander and founder of Shift4 Payments), Scott Poteet (mission pilot and vice president of operations at Shift4 Payments), Sarah Gillis (mission specialist, physician assistant), and Anna Menon (mission specialist, SpaceX engineer).

Mission Objectives

Polaris Dawn will focus on testing new technologies and procedures that will pave the way for future human spaceflight missions:

  • Testing spacesuit capabilities during spacewalks
  • Conducting scientific research on the effects of spaceflight on the human body
  • Communicating with astronauts on the International Space Station

Significance of Polaris Dawn
